Hevn is a sci-fi survival mystery game where you play as a newly hired mining engineer who was recently brought on to work at a remote mining facility. Your duties were supposed to be simple, mine as much Soviten as possible and keep everything running. But you soon realize things are not as simple as they seem. After awaking from hibernation-like sleep, your memory is fuzzy. A mysterious individual contacts you but you're not sure why. Your family and friends back home start messaging you with their own troubling issues. Should you stay to fulfill your duties. Or should you leave for home? Or is something else at work here?
For Mac, PC, and Linux. The release date is set for December 2015.
Hevn was inspired not only from other games, movies, and books but also from a simple question. During early 2012, I left my previous career as a web-app/desktop database developer and jumped head first into game development alongside Miga Col.Labs. For my first project I started working on an overly complex helicopter rescue game. The goal was to learn the Unity engine, learn the basics of game development, and ultimately create a fun game that could push the limits of lesser powered machines (especially since development would take place on a 2011 13" MacBook). After a month of development and showing the prototype to friends and family, a simple question was asked: "is this game something you would play?" Unfortunately, or fortunately, the answer to that question was "no". To which the reply was "well why not make a game you would play?". Since I'm a fan of science fiction and exploration, I hunkered down until Hevn was born.
For the next two years Hevn has gone through several prototype stages, many story iterations, and "ridiculous" feature creep. This ultimately led to a realization almost a year ago that it was time to cut back and focus on the core gameplay, story, environment, and overall feel.
